OpenGate is based on Microsoft's ADO.NET provider specification. Blue Elm has crafted 3 native ADO.NET providers. One is used for accessing MAGIC based data; another is for accessing C/S based data; while the last is used for accessing M-AT based data.

OpenGate comes with a SQL like syntax for accessing MAGIC, C/S, M-AT based data in NPR and Focus.
In addition, OpenGate allows the user to input native MAGIC syntax into MAGIC and C/S queries;
